About Making Mayhem
Making Mayhem is a place for me to capture and share the memorable moments, crackerjacks, and ever-afters1 I create during my solo wargames. It is partially inspired by Patrick Todoroff’s blog where he writes engaging third-person narratives of his wargaming sessions.
What I love most about wargaming is the shared experiences it creates with friends. I hope that by sharing my solo wargaming escapades, playing solo wargames will be as rewarding to me as cooperative wargaming. That would give more opportunities to wargame and more motivation to paint miniatures, prepare terrain, try new systems.
I also hope that my hobby journals, scenario stories, and battle reports inspires you to try solo or cooperative wargaming and helps you discover great independent wargames to add to your collection.
About Me
I’m a software engineer by day and a tabletop miniature wargamer when I find the time. I’ve been playing tabletop miniature wargames since a college friend introduced me to Warhammer 40K back in the days of 3rd edition. I fell away from the hobby for a decade or two, but jumped back in during the pandemic when I came across Zona Alfa by Patrick Todoroff. These days, I mostly play solo and cooperative skirmish games from independent game developers.
About My Miniatures and Terrain
Most of my miniatures come from Reaper Miniatures and Wargames Atlantic. I also have a fare number of miniatures from Anvil Industry, Black Site Studio, Crooked Dice, North Star Military Figures, CMON’s Zombicide, and Warlord Games’ Project Z. For several years, I had a resin 3D printer and printed many of my miniatures from the catalogs of Artisan Guild, Titan Forge, Rocket Pig Games, and numerous others. I’m also trying out Hero Forge for custom physical miniatures where I can’t find anything suitable from other manufacturers.
My terrain tends to be 3D printed on my FDM printers, usually from the catalog of Corvus Games Terrain or Txarli Factory. I also own a number of Black Site Studio’s pre-painted MDF kits and I highly recommend them.
